I photograph objects that are deteriorating with the passage of time, especially architectural structures. The focus of my work illuminates my travels across Mexico, within my home state of Oklahoma, and several U.S. cities. I work in digital photography and mixed media with Polaroid film, drawing on diverse methods.
I have been integrating my digital photography with the 600 and SX-70 Polaroid films. First, I photograph my subject using the Polaroid film. Then I hold the developed image up to my camera and focus on the recently shot Polaroid. I blur the background just enough where one can still recognize the location. By doing this, I am exhibiting the transition of a dying art form to its digital heirs. By capturing this change, my images evoke nostalgia for the past and a picture of the future.
