I have been working with Polaroid film for six years. When I caught news that Polaroid was ceasing production of all their film, I thought about how I could preserve the Polaroid look with minimal digital alteration.
The idea of digitally photographing the Polaroid came to me while shooting the Yukon flour mill on Valentines Day 2008. After a few shots of experimenting photographing the actual Polaroid, I decided to hold the Polaroid in front of the subject and then focus only on the Polaroid. The background remains blurred but still distinguishable.
I was pleased with the final outcome of my images and thought it would make a great series. After taking a few photographs, I decided to create a collection of work with individual series of the places I traveled to focusing on architecture, sculpture and culture.
