My mixed media pieces are created using various Polaroid films and techniques combined with rusted metal, especially antique cut nails. I use the metal to mimic a certain element of the image whether its visual or metaphorical. I use rusted metal for its transformational qualities and to repurpose its function. The Polaroid techniques I use include transfers, emulsion lifts and expired SX-70 film. All of these methods go through a metamorphosis. By combining the rusted metal and Polaroid techniques, I am embracing the act of destruction to create something aesthetically pleasing.
